Social Media effects your efficiency in a negative manner. World of online gossip is appealing to students’. They are now using FB and are becoming obsessed with it.

Social Media effects your efficieny

Every day there was some new drama and all are busy ruminating about it for hours and eventually effecting their GPA.

Multitasking & Performance has some negative relation in between. Students spend a heck of a lot of time logged onto Facebook. It bothers educators, who complain of students messaging friends or posting snarky status updates from their laptops instead of paying attention to lectures.

What is GPA?

The grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total amount of grade points earned by the total amount of credit hours attempted. Your grade point average may range from 0.0 to a 4.0.

All Facebook activities do not have the same relationship with grades. Posting status updates and using Facebook chat generally mean a lower GPA, while checking to see what friends are up to and sharing links suggest a higher GPA. In other words, social Facebook activities were correlated with lower grades and information-related Facebook activities were correlated with higher grades.

Major Activities on FB

Playing games (FarmVille, MafiaWars, etc.)
Posting status updates
Sharing links
Sending private messages
Commenting (on statuses, wall posts, pictures, etc.)
Chatting on Facebook chat
Sinus, ear disorder, pneumonia and typhoid are the very sensitive bacterial infections and can be bought online too. cialis without prescription devensec.com is a trade name pill which has evolved as the only pill that remains in the human body because the exact make-up doesn’t exist in nature and therefore the knowledge of their consequences might be limited.
Checking to see what someone is up to
Creating or RSVPing to events

As per a study on Computers in Human Behavior by Reynol Junco the specific uses of Facebook are related to positive outcomes while others are related to negative ones. Sharing links and checking to see what friends are up to are positively related to GPA, while posting status updates is negatively related.

Furthermore, using Facebook chat is negatively related to time spent studying. It seems that using Facebook for activities that involve collecting and sharing information (checking to see what friends are up to and sharing links, respectively) is more positively predictive of outcomes than using Facebook for socializing (status updates and chatting).
